Governance Parametrism

Throughout human history, social order has always relied on a set of stable parameters:
law, religion, currency, family, education, military, politics… These belong to the “naturally evolved governance parameters.” Over thousands of years, they gradually solidified, forming the board of reality upon which human civilization has continued.

Yet in the 21st century, a fundamental shift has occurred:

The past board was shaped by natural evolution, but today humanity has drawn an artificial board — artificial intelligence, the virtual society, the algorithmic world.

Unlike natural parameters, which evolved gradually through lived experience, this artificial board develops at a speed far beyond human comprehension and adaptability.

The danger is this: if humanity only draws the board but fails to set governance parameters, then according to the law of “parameter conflict → structural reconstruction,” the old board’s order is bound to fall into turmoil.

  • At best: the rules of reality are eroded by virtual rules, leading to employment structure imbalance, value system virtualisation, and fractures in social cognition and class relations.

  • At worst: the entire human board will be reconstructed—or even swallowed—by the artificial board, causing human society to lose its independence and stability altogether.

Therefore, humanity’s urgent task is not to wait and see where the artificial board will lead, but to immediately input governance parameters.

  • Through constitutions, institutions, and international accords to set boundaries;

  • Through policies, ethics, and regulation to calibrate new parameters;

  • Through practical experiments to test the interfaces between boards.

Throughout the long course of human history, social parameters were never actively set by us, but instead gradually crystallised through natural evolution—religion, law, currency, and other institutions.
Today, with the rise of artificial intelligence and the virtual board, humanity must for the first time consciously input parameters to safeguard its own board.
This is the first deliberate choice in the history of civilisation, with a significance comparable to the harnessing of fire, the invention of writing, and the Industrial Revolution.
